MCAA     The Colonel Frank Millner Scholarship     HMX-1
September 10, 2022

Colonel Frank Millner Sonia Millner

Colonel Frank Millner Scholarship

Colonel Frank E. Millner was a veteran of two tours in Vietnam and was the 17th Commanding Officer of HMX-1 from June 1977 - July 1979, flying Presidents Ford and Carter. He served as Deputy Director of the White House Military Office for Presidents Carter and Reagan.

Colonel Millner passed away on 5 December 2009 at the age of 74. Colonel Millner’s family asked that a scholarship be established in his name for the benefit of the sons and daughters of enlisted members currently serving in HMX-1. As Col Millner always cared immensely for the young Marines, who are the heart and soul of HMX-1, this is a fitting memorial to him and it is hoped that enough money will be raised on a continuing basis to develop a sustaining fund that lasts for many years.

Since 2009, the Col Millner Scholarship has provided educational assistance to several students:

The Nighthawk MCAA Squadron has been responsible for fund raising and administering the Scholarship since its inception. We are soliciting donations for the Col Millner Scholarship.

As some of you may know - the original Cage hangar (building 2103) at MCAF Quantico/HMX-1 has been demolished. During the demolition, the Nighthawk MCAA Squadron - with permission from MCAF and the contractor - was able to obtain a limited number of bricks from the Cage.

As long as supply allows, we are able to provide a commemorative brick from the Cage in appreciation for a donation of $50 or more to the Colonel Millner Scholarship. On receipt of your $50 donation, for an additional $20 to cover shipping, we will send you a brick from the Cage along with a certificate of authenticity that attests to the fact that the brick was recovered during the demolition of the Cage.

Please use the PayPal button at the top of this page to make a donation to the Millner Scholarship - and to request a commemorative Cage brick.

If you wish to save shipping cost, you may make a donation and pick up a brick in person from Ron Berube in Northern Virgina at:
